TfL miss another deadline with new Stratford station upgrade

TfL have missed the latest deadline to open a new station entrance at Stratford as part of a station upgrade.

A TfL report last month saw the Programmes and Investment Committee told the entrance would “open by July”. It hasn’t.

That follows a failure to meet a deadline before April 2024. The exact date given was 9th March.

Waiting to open

When open the entrance, located bside Jubilee line platforms and the DLR platform to Stratford International, is expected to mitigate against crowding and enable those visting the London Stadium to disperse via a number of entrances and exits.

In addition it will serve thousands of new homes approved at Carpenters’ Estate.

Deadline missed

The previous deadline was missed due to “late design change and emerging issues throughout the delivery stage including unforeseen ground conditions and water ingress.”

It’s not the only station enhacement on the way as Stratford sees growth throughout the area.

Network Rail are looking at the addition of a new lift while studies on a far larger reworking are ongoing.

Transport for London have been contacted for information. This post will be updated when received.

  • Better ask Sadiq Khan to come over to Stratford station and to open the new entrance so that people can enter and exit the station lot quicker. TfL are a disgrace.

  • It’s now open btw.

Do you have a source for this “is expected to mitigate against crowding and enable those visting the London Stadium to disperse via a number of entrances and exits”

Because TfL say it will be closed on event days, as it was yesterday.
