No Southeastern trains to Victoria for ten days

Major engineering works over the festive period will mean no Southeastern trains to Victoria from today (Saturday 23rd December) until Tuesday 2nd January.

Trains on the Bexleyheath line from Dartford will instead be diverted towards Charing Cross.

Courtesy Network Rail. Work to expand ticket gates also set to take place

Works will be undertaken to upgrade track and signalling between Herne Hill, Brixton and London Victoria. Another project is seeing the removal of certain retail units to expand the number of ticket gates from 88 to 125.

Network Rail state alternative options will be available to ticket holders including:

  • London Underground between London Victoria, Brixton, Elephant & Castle, London Blackfriars, London Charing Cross, Embankment, London Cannon Street, London Bridge, Southwark and London Waterloo.

  • Thameslink between London Blackfriars, Bromley South and Sevenoaks to connect with trains to / from Gillingham, Faversham, Ashford International, Ramsgate and Dover Priory (at Swanley)

No trains from Lewsham to Victoria
  • On Sunday only, you can use London Bus routes P12, 78 and 484 between Denmark Hill and Lewisham at no extra cost.

While some routes are diverted to Charing Cross or Blackfriars, Brixton station will remain closed throughout the period.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • How are we suppose to rely on UK transport when we are put in such situations.. most ppl working in security 12h shifts, don’t get paid if they don’t attend work, still are required to work weekends and Bank Holidays. You can’t expect people to wake up at 4am to get to work at 7am, then get back home at 9pm or 10pm.. and the only compensation they are able to claim from a monthly travel card is a one day travel cost, still spend on fuel/parking/toll &central london charges, you can’t expect people to get rid of cars when transport isn’t exactly reliable.
