Blackwall tunnel gridlock after A2 lorry fire

A lorry fire on the A2 Kent-bound has seen the road closed between Blackheath and Kidbrooke.

Southbound traffic through the Blackwall tunnel is at a standstill for some miles.

An articulated lorry caught fire earlier this afternoon just past the Sun in the Sands roundabout.

Bus routes are also disrupted.

It should again be noted that when the Silvertown tunnel opens two tunnel’s worth of traffic will be heading to this same existing road which TfL themselves state will increase traffic each afternoon.
