Stratford office block now down for new tower

A 1980s office block in Stratford is now pretty much entirely demolished to make way for a forthcoming tower.

A few weeks back I covered ongoing demolition of the former Jubilee House HMRC office. In its place will rise a 36-floor student tower.

Two stage plan. Block on right secured funding

An adjacent block with yellow window frames will also be replaced in future.

Yellow framed block remains for now

This being Stratford there’s no end of major developments either underway or proposed, and the same vantage point showing Jubilee House’s demolition also shows the site of a forthcoming tower.

In the shot below, a 41-floor block will rise beside the tower seen to the left.

Unite tower coming beside tower

Unite are also behind that proposal. This spot is beside the steps leading to Westfield and across railway lines.

Proposed tower

Plans were submitted last year for 945 student rooms.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • The Unite building by the Moxy in old Statford is ok. But the monstrosity in the Olympic park needs to be demolished. How was that ever allowed
