Greenwich Post Office redevelopment underway

Greenwich’s Post Office has closed as work gets underway on demolishing the current structure.

A temporary replacement has opened on Burney Road, with a new building including flats set to be constructed.

New Post office approved

A new structure gained approval in early 2022. Nine flats will be built above. Once complete the Post Office is due to return to one of two units alongside Meridian pharmacy.

There were ideas about locating Post Office services on the nearby car park though that idea was dropped.

The soon to be demolished building was a modest post-war affair sitting below existing building lines.

It’s replacement at four floors in height brings it in line with neighbours. Paving space outside is being narrowed. Not the best in an area of high footfall.
