Bus badly damaged by fire in Sidcup

A bus suffered damage after it caught fire today near Queen Mary’s hospital in Sidcup.

The bus on route 269 is operated by Arriva.

The bus saw severe damage and follows complaints about the upkeep by Arriva of buses.

The company recently declined to continue operating FasTrack buses in Dartford with concerns from Dartford Council they’d pull out from other routes.

Their south east London routes have gained criticism for poor internal conditions for some time now.

Arriva have been contacted for comment.

UPDATE: On social media some are claiming its an electric bus. It’s not. No electric buses operate on that route and the model is an older Wright Eclipse Gemini.

Running a site alone takes time and a fair bit of money. Adverts are far from enough to cover it and my living costs as a private renter.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
