Lewisham to Stratford DLR services begin this month
Transport for London have announced a number of service improvements across the Docklands Light Railway network from mid-May.
For the first time during evening rush hour, trains will run between Lewisham and Stratford according to TfL. A change at Canary Wharf was previously required.
Evening peak services will see intervals reduced to as little as a train running every two minutes.
In addition, peak time service levels are being extended across the network with morning peak services running to 10am instead of 9:30am.
In the evening peak services will end at 7:30pm rather than 7pm.
Other changes include a shuttle introduced last year between Canning Town and Beckton running for longer into the evening. This helps if using the Elizabeth line and changing at Custom House for the DLR.
Trains every five minutes rather than 10 will run until 11:30pm on weekdays rather than 7:30pm, and until 10pm on Saturdays.
Recent passenger figures show the DLR has recovered to 84 per cent of pre-pandemic levels. That’s an improvement on TfL’s expectations which was set at 80 per cent this financial year.
New trains are now testing on the network, with introduction into passenger service due by the end of March 2024.
In addition, the Elizabeth line will see extra services from later this month. Faster journeys to the west of London will also be introduced.
Running a site alone takes time and a fair bit of money. Adverts are far from enough to cover it and my living costs as a private renter.

I’m impressed but wonder how TfL are managing it? They still seem to be actively pushing improvements despite passenger numbers remaining lower than 2020 though moving in the right direction. Growth does seem quicker than budgeted in some areas and the Elizabeth line must be bringing in decent amounts above expectations?
A million miles away from the philosophy of government and southeastern rail anyway which seems to be to actively harm services.
If improvements have resulted in a train every two minutes that suggests the frequency has been increased. It’s the intervals that have been reduced.
The DLR has long run between Stratford and Lewisham but only in the morning peak. What’s new is evening peak services.
Cheers I’ve amended it now
