Fire on Southeastern Networker train

A Southeastern train caught fire earlier today in Kent causing evacuation of carriages.

It appears the fire begun near the bottom of the train around the shoe which picks up electricity via the third rail.

The incident at West Malling appears to be this Victoria to Ashford service and involved a Networker train. At the end of 2022 they reached 30 years in service and are the most common trains in use across Southeastern Metro though do make mid distance trios into Kent, with some even reaching the coast.

Southeastern are investigating the cause of the fire.
