Construction now underway on New Cross student block

Work is now underway at 333-337 New Cross Road to build 63 student rooms.

Last week saw details of building materials uploaded to Lewisham Council’s planning portal.

From last week’s upload

In recent months a crane was set up and building work begun on site near The Venue club.

It’s a pretty decent bit of in-fill, replacing two very low rise buildings. A William Hill and takeaway previously existed on site. Two new commercial units are included below homes.

Plans were initially approved in 2020.

Proportions are decent and 63 new students will help local businesses, and hopefully won’t complain about nearby nightlife.

Running a site alone takes time and a fair bit of money. Adverts are far from enough to cover it and my living costs as a private renter.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
