Lewisham leisure centre pool at Glass Mill closed

The main pool at Lewisham’s flagship Glass Mill leisure centre has been closed until further notice.

Greenwich Leisure Limited – trading as Better – now operate the centre and could give no timescale for when it may reopen.

A spokesperson for GLL said:

“The leisure centre staff noticed a crack in one of the windows above the pool earlier today.  As a precaution, we’ve therefore closed the pool until a contractor can attend and assess the damaged glass.”

The teaching pool remains open.

GLL took over the centre after previous issues with Lewisham borough centres.

Deptford saw one of its pools under recent threat of closure, though a strong local campaign has seen it remain in use after investment and that remains an alternative while issues are fixed in Lewisham.

As a private renter with a young family, the cost of living is extremely high.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
