Dartford Tunnel closed: Eight miles of queues

One of the two Dartford tunnels heading anti-clockwise to Essex remains closed after an accident north of the river.

Queues are extensive across Dartford itself.

The M25 is bumper to bumper back past Swanley.

Earlier this morning the Blackwall Tunnel was blocked northbound due to protests. that has now cleared.

UPDATE: It’s now heavy going again as traffic diverts.

Also this morning I looked at TfL’s future spending plans. Cuts of £1.5 billion from central Government mean enhanced public transport across the river are unlikely anytime soon.
