Reported fire causing disruption on Elizabeth line

A fire alert has seen all trains halted in the Ilford area disrupting the Elizabeth line and Greater Anglia services.

With the eastern branch of the Elizabeth line to Shenfield disrupted, knock-on effects are being seen on the south eastern branch to Abbey Wood.

C2C railway – which is now part of the same organisation as Greater Anglia – state: “Due to a lineside fire at Ilford, Greater Anglia tickets can be used on c2c services between Fenchurch Street and Southend Central at no extra cost.”

TfL state: “No service between Whitechapel and Shenfield, and SEVERE DELAYS on the rest of the line while we deal with a line side fire at Ilford. Tickets are being accepted on London Underground via any reasonable routes”.

UPDATE: The line has fully reopened.

  • I wonder what caused the fire that caused major disruption. Probably it’s to do with the recent heatwave or would it be arson and someone has trespassed onto the tracks. And deliberately started the fire or was it accidental.

    • Sorry I meant was what caused the fire alert or was there a faulty fire alarm that caused delays to trains in and out of Stratford.

  • Well it has caused major disruptions to Greater Anglia services coming to and from London Liverpool Street to Ipswich, Colchester, Southend Victoria, Norwich, Braintree and Clacton-on-Sea. And Stratford-Meridian Water, Hertford East and Bishops Stortford. As well as London Overground Mildmay Line.
