Music festival coming to Woolwich tomorrow with events across town
A free live music festival will see live performances across Woolwich tomorrow.
Brassworks is back with a parade starting from midday in the town centre at General Gordon Square before heading towards Woolwich Works.
Once there a full day of free live music will commence with performances until 9pm:
- 12:30pm DJ set
- 1pm Crystal Palace Band
- 2:15pm Bollywood Brass
- 3:30pm Blow and Blast featuring the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO)
- 4:15pm Brassic Parp
- 5:30pm DJ
- 6pm London Afrobeat Collective
- 8pm DJ
Organisers are asking anyone with a brass instrument to show up for a mass performance at 3:30pm. A rehearsal workshop runs between 1pm to 2:30pm before a group perform on at 3:30pm led by Byron Wallen.
A quick look at the weather forecast shows a lovely sunny day tomorrow with temps at 22c. Perfect.
Organisers state there’s no need to book a ticket in advance. The courtyard at Woolwich Works will also see family games, a bar selling alcohol and soft drinks, an ice cream bike, a giant deckchair and a stretch tent to shade you from the sun.
My only criticism is that like the Greenwich & Docklands festival recently held in the town nothing seems planned after 9pm which is hardly late. With the recent festival it all ceased by about 7:30pm I think it was. Far too early to call it quits for many.

Hundreds if not thousands of people and nothing laid on.
Why no event within Woolwich Works in the evening? It’d be an ideal way for the venue to make money.
