Sonic boom across across parts of London and Kent as RAF jet scrambled

An RAF jet breaking the sound barrier has caused a sonic boom heard across a large part of the country.

Aside from the boom many reported shaking buildings in north west Kent including Dartford as well as south east London including Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich boroughs.

The Typhoon aircraft was scrambled to intercept a jet flying from France. As ever Flight Radar is an excellent source to see what’s happening in the skies.

It’s believed that a flight from Nice to London Stansted was intercepted by the Eurofighter jet.

Speeds faster than 660 mph produce a sonic boom.

  • The sonic boom was also heard across other parts of England and even was heard in parts of Wales and Northern France.

  • I haven’t heard it but I have seen it on the news and on YouTube and Facebook about the Sonic Boom. But I think it was heard in other parts of the UK and in Northern France as well.
