Gallery White Box in Blackheath reopens with upcoming events
Gallery White Box in Blackheath has reopened following recent closure.
The gallery, located beside the Hare and Billet pub the new management of Westcombe Park resident Aleksandra Niemczyk.
The gallery was previously run by Graham and Frances High for eight years, but has remained closed for several months after they moved on to new projects.
Aleksandra will now run it as her studio and gallery, presenting multiple monthly exhibitions from local and international artists.

Most of the work is available to buy, but visitors are welcome to drop in and just enjoy the art.
“Our first challenge is to raise awareness of the gallery’s existence,” says Aleksandra. “It’s only a six-minute walk from Blackheath station and ten minutes from Greenwich Park, you can see it from All Saints church on the heath – yet a lot of people don’t realise it’s there.”
Aleksandra moved to the Greenwich area six years ago following an established career in Oslo, Norway, where her work features in many private and public art collections, including Focus Bank and Louis Vuitton.
She has since participated in Greenwich Open Studios and is a member of the Blackheath Art Society. In 2023, her work was selected for the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) 200th Anniversary Exhibition at Mall Galleries.
Aleksandra will develop the gallery’s programme of exhibitions, residencies, and workshops in response to local artistic developments and her own curator’s eye – which favours sensual works of abstract expressionism, art brut, distinct artistic voices, and fine craft.
Having studied at the radical film factory academy of renowned Hungarian director Béla Tarr, Aleksandra is also keen to develop a film programme at Gallery White Box.
Upcoming events
In July, Gallery White Box will exhibit the passionate landscapes of Kathleen Taylor (4th -13th July) and host a residency with local artist James D Wilson (14th -31st July), who will run landscape and portrait workshops and wine tastings.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming new and established art lovers and collectors into the gallery to show them the best, most exciting, and wall-worthy art of contemporary Blackheath, London, and international artists,” says Aleksandra.
