New Greenwich distribution depot now complete
Construction work on a new lory and van distribution depot in Greenwich on Tunnel Avenue looks to have completed.
The depot is located close to the newly opened Silvertown tunnel which includes a dedicated lane for lorries.
Containing five units, it also sits beside the cycle route to the cycle shuttle bus along Tunnel Avenue which is often in a terrible condition. It’s unlikely this will help.
Bird boxes and planting has been installed outside. How long they last remains to be seen.
It had its own dedicated website from a company named Bloom behind the venture – but that’s now offline.
However a new one has sprung up and is visible here.
Further depots are expected around the tunnel with plans approved in 2024 for a site in Charlton.
Tunnel works have not increased capacity on local roads often at capacity.
