Firefighters tackle Woolwich pub blaze

A fire broke out this lunchtime at a pub in Woolwich.

The Queens Arms on Burrage Road is the location of the blaze.

London Fire Brigade state:

“Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a pub on Burrage Road in Woolwich.

Part of the ground floor of the three-storey building was damaged by the fire. Six people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 1246 and the fire was under control by 1351. Fire crews from Lee Green, Erith, Eltham and Greenwich fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.”

A subsequent message read: “The ground floor of the building has been damaged. Six people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There are no reports of any injuries.”

The pub recently finished refurbishment work which saw an extension and flats created above a retained pub space.

      • It doesn’t have the sign up anymore. I’ve never been in myself, though the planning was for retained pub space. As you say, maybe never opened up.

    • I believe this is the pub on Burrage Road where the late darts player Andy Fordham once lived. I hope everyone is safe.
