Plans have been submitted for a cash and carry including an apparent post office in Abbey Wood.
The new post office will be welcomed after a former crown office in the town closed. It’s not confirmed exactly what services will be offered, but is unlikely to offer the same as a crown facility.
The site was originally due to see a new Abbey Wood library with plans drawn up when Sainsbury’s was approved. It never made much sense given moving the existing library from the centre of Abbey Wood estate would have rendered it more difficult for thousands of estate residents to reach – and Bexley Council were planning a new library close to the proposed site on their side of the border.
The retail outlet is named Bethel cash and carry.
A 22-storey tower has just commenced construction next door.
That project also includes shop and commercial space along Felixstowe Road.
Workers are now on site after construction kicked off in December 2020.
