Deptford High Street could see another bookies at former bank

Deptford could be set for another bookies as Jennings Bet submit an application at the former Barclays Bank.

It’d be the company’s second branch with another a short distance along the High Street.

Since closing, the former Barclays Bank has seen signage removed revealing the old Woolwich Building Society logo.

The application states little interest was shown was interested in taking it on. Yet Deptford High Street’s other units are generally pretty well occupied.

The application seeks to gain approval by including a decision for a unit in Ealing where the Planning Inspector permitted a bookies despite five others in the near area.

Running a site alone takes time and a fair bit of money. Adverts are far from enough to cover it and my living costs as a private renter.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
