  • On *Tranquil* Vale of all places. Hope they catch the culprit.

  • @ Plumstead Resident I agree let’s hope the culprit is caught quickly.

  • I hope the victim is okay and making a full recovery. What an idiot let’s hope the suspect is caught soon.

  • Why does it take so long for a witness appeal to be put out?

  • Absolutely Chris this information needs to be made public with in a couple of the days of the incident happening so any witnesses can come forward.sooner while the incident is still fresh in their minds.

  • @Plumstead Resident: crime is everywhere and locality does not signify, but don’t you remember the banker who died following an altercation on an evening out in Blackheath Village?

  • Blackheath village is full of all manner of right-wing thugs from different socio-economic backgrounds. Some come there from further afield to drink; others live there. There’s a quotidian menace to the place.

  • @ Ballarrd That is so very true.

  • So was this racially motivated? Fairly new to the borough so I had no idea about Blackheath being a far right area. I can’t believe I moved so close to racists. Really annoyed and disappointed.

  • Hello Sana, I wasn’t implying it was a predominantly ‘far-right’ area, no, even though there’s no doubt some of those around: particularly at weekends.

There wasn’t anything in what I wrote that implied this was anything to do with racism either.

  • It’s a bit more insidious than that. Like Graham above, you’d get what I mean if you’d lived in Blackheath for any length of time. It’s more about aggressive men with ‘problems with themselves’ who tend to be on that end of the political spectrum. Be careful in Blackheath village during drinking hours as they are ‘looking for an excuse’ …

  • Drink is the problem and pretty Blackheath Village has plenty of places where people can get tanked up and aggressive.

@Sana, as I said above, crime is everywhere but not all prevading as the media like us to think. Just be mindful that a group of drinkers will contain an element of troublemakers so be ready to change direction if you feel the need.

  • It’s not merely the presence, and use of the substance there; more a combination of that with the character and demographic of those living in, or visiting the place. When I lived there, some years ago, we often saw the local BNP candidate and the like infesting the village; no doubt attracted by the bygone Little-Englander look of the place.

  • Ballard’s comments are nonsense. There’s no organised far-right activity in Blackheath.

  • You seem to have limited reading comprehension skills, as that was not what I stated.

Where would we go for ‘organised far-right’ activity then? No doubt you’re knowledgeable in these matters.

  • Note the phrase in my post that conveys temporality.
