Infill block proposed on Greenwich High Road

Plans are in for a small infill six-storey block on Greenwich High Road in place of previously approved 2016 plans for a shop and flats.

The land is currently vacant and adjoins Mumford Mills, and located close to the large Maritime development recently completed. Maritime comprises 125 flats. I took a look at it back in 2019. Another infill block was approved last spring for the car park in front of that development.

Approved last year

Greenwich High Road has changed hugely over the past decades as hotels and new blocks have regularly appeared.

Maritime block – taken spring 2019 – car park in front will see a new block

A further block is underway at the junction of Norman Road:

Currently under in Greenwich

That block sees 63 flats in buildings topping out at 12 floors. Head down Norman Road and many more developments are approved such as Saxon Wharf and a tower the other end of Norman Road.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • it makes good use of space which otherwise would normally be left empty and unattended for years.

i also like the new developments along Norman Road and on the corner of Norman Road and Greenwich High Road this section of Greenwich has been in need of redevelopment for sometime.

  • Agreed that retail space makes no sense, but all those developments are barely distinguishable from each other and are hugely expensive to buy and live in to boot.

  • @anonymous201481 I agree the cost of purchasing or privately renting in the Borough is out of reach for most borough residents who simply cannot afford them on their salaries.
