Three foxes shot with crossbow in Blackheath

Police are appealing for help after three foxes were shot with a crossbow in Blackheath over the past few days.

At least one arrow used has “Tenpoint” printed upon it.

The incidents occurred on Parkgate, SE3 9XF. Anyone with information can contact police by either calling 101 or tweeting @MetCC and quoting CAD 4617/06Nov

Police have now released a story on their website. It states the fox died, and that “another fox had previously been found dead in the same area and a third is reported to have been seen at the same location with a bolt/arrow in its body.

Conchi Gago, from the Met’s Wildlife Crime Unit, said:“It’s absolutely shocking that two animals have died in such awful circumstances.

“It is obvious that whoever did this did so deliberately and it is disturbing to think that someone would intend to injure and kill a wild animal.”

It is against the law under section 11 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act to kill or take any wild animals using a bow or crossbow.

The Fox Project is offering a £2,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of whoever is responsible.”

  • This person needs to be caught and quick. the crossbow is a very dangerous weapon which becomes even more dangerous in the wrong hands. We also do not know how mentally stable or unstable this person is ??

So everyone needs to be extra cautious. Please take care.

    • I think it is safe to say they are mentally unstable. They shot foxes with a crossbow!

  • City foxes are pests. The person responsible should be commended for doing a public service that the council refuses to do. Foxes kill pets, chickens, other wild birds e.g. swans and cygnets, and can cause awful problems with fouling and litter spreading.
