Woolwich bar fined after breaching 10pm closing

A bar-restaurant in Woolwich has been fined £1,000 after contravening a newly introduced 10pm closing time.

Greenwich Council list it as the Albion pub though it hasn’t gone by that name for some time. It now goes by the name of Le Wouri bar & restuarant.

Greenwich Council state that advice was “not fully responded to”.

Plans for site

The former Albion pub has long been in line for demolition for new flats.

Six takeaways were also found to be in breach and two businesses are being investigated. They are located on Trafalgar Road in Greenwich.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • WOW! There’s a surprise! Having lived at 5 Tivoli Gardens, a while ago, I was the in the closet residence to that place. I can say, with nary a doubt, I’m greatly surprised that this is the first time this play has been cited! I used to make bets with my Wife about how long it would be until this joint was shuttered, but it never seemed to happen. Scary down there at night, too. Have yourselves a little drive by, late on a Friday or Saturday…frightening!

  • I agree Paul Super Unkown the area is very frightening at night. That said it is not that great during the day either !!! My nan lived on Tivoli Gardens when the Estate was brand new.

Personally I think it it time for the site to be re-developed. Hopefully sooner rather than later. It would be good if the site could be redeveloped along with the neighbouring Morris Walk Estate.

      • Yeah. Accepted. Nevertheless it still looks like a total dump. Knock it down. Sad and depressing environment that people should not be expected to live with

  • I have never been frightened anywhere in the Woolwich area either day or night but have been in many countries and many situations ….suppose it depends how strong a character you are

  • Most people I know no longer like going to Woolwich some are large men with very strong characters. Woolwich has been ruined by the gangs drug dealing and anti social behaviour.which is all over Woolwich.

Decent law abiding hard working citizens do not want this on their door steps and in their neighbourhoods.

I think the pub should be knocked down and redeveloped sooner rather than later.
