Eltham block of flats submitted for planning by Greenwich Council

A mere few weeks after an online consultation and plans have been submitted for new flats in Eltham.

The block on Well Hall Road is a Greenwich Council block containing 20 social rented homes. It will help lessen extremely expensive (and rising) cost of housing people in private lettings.

Of the 20 flats, the bedroom sizes range from is 6 x 1-bed, 9 x 2-bed and 5 x 3-bed.

A consultation covered on this site back in May led to 2,165 visitors and 100 contributions. Though with such a short term between consultation and submission any meaningful impact is limited. One change is removal of protruding balconies.

As for wanky terminology, enjoy this in regard to the design: “The materiality of the new buildings creates a synergy within the context”

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • I am pleased this development on Well Hall Road Eltham is a Greenwich Council block containing 20 social rented homes.

Research by Zoopla in The Londoner reveals exactly how much you need to buy your first home in the London Boroughs. .

The Household income you would need to buy is £105,000 and the average house prices is £475,000.

For the London Borough of Bexley. Household income needed is £89,000 and the average house price is £400,000.

Also for the London Borough of Lewisham the household income needed is £100,000 and the average house price is £ 450,000.

I just do not know who can afford to buy a propety now days even if they can afford to save for their first deposit.

  • Home ownership is now out of the reach of more people than ever, but here are still some who can afford to buy in Lewisham or Greenwich – the wealthy or like me, those who are now retired and benefitted from the exponetial growth in property values over the last 40 or so years. I bought a two bed maisonette in Lee last year and at 62, this will be my last move.
