Help support local foodbanks. They need it more than ever
At a time when panic buying is taking hold appeals are being issued to help out foodbanks and vulnerable people who rely upon them.
Greenwich Foodbank are in need and have the added difficulty of being part way through a move.

If you’d like to volunteer to help in a number of roles – and not just at foodbanks, there is a page to sign up here. It could be checking in on people, manning telephone lines to offer guidance and much more.
Difficult to do when you are faced with bare shelves. Sainsbury’s has now imposed a limit of no more than two of each item, but I am appalled at the selfishness of people. What on earth are they doing with the hand sanitisers, bathing in it?
Consider donating money so we can secure food supplies through our supermarket partners.
Thanks for highlighting this. I’ve been feeling like I’d like to take some kind of positive action. As my office is closed and we’ve been asked to work from home I’ve donated my weekly commute costs to the food bank who do such great work. Hope their move goes smoothly.

I do have to agree with Anonymous201481 and CDT.
However, Excellent idea to give money to the food bank instead. Then food cannot be stolen from Food Bank Donating Boxes where shoppers leave their food bank donations.
I was shocked and saddened to see someone in Sainsburys Charlton go to the food bank donating box split open a six pack of something take a few and casually walk out there store.
The empty shelves as been caused by people been greedy and buying more than they need to stockpile it or in some cases even sell on for a profit as they know people need to buy the essential items.
Most of us who are fit and healty and under 70 with out underlying health conditions will only get a more milder form oft the virus. As explained on TV several times by Senior Health Experts.
If everyone just bought their normal weekly shop there will be enough to go around for everyone.
If everyone acts senisblly and listens to advice we can through this.
I was thinking only the the day that supermarkets will need to start posting a guard by the donation box and sadly this sort of behaviour does not surprise me. However, supermarkets rely on the goodwill of the public to fill up donation boxes and perhaps they need to start direct supplies to the food banks whilst this madness is going on.
