Jubilee Line driver based in Greenwich tests positive for coronavirus

Transport for London have revealed this morning that a Jubilee Line driver based at their North Greenwich depot has tested positive for coronavirus. The driver had been self-isolating after returning from Vietnam.

TfL state: “The safety of our staff and customers is our top priority and we are taking all necessary precautions. The areas where the driver worked are being cleaned, including the depot and the trains, in line with guidance from Public Health England with whom we are working closely.”

Drivers of course do stay in cabs away from the public throughout their shift and the likelihood of any contact with the public was minimal – and that’s assuming he worked at all before self-isolating. TfL have stepped up station and train cleaning in recent days.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • I hope the cleaning of public transport is being completed to a high standard.

As Public transport is a high risk area for the travelling public. Not only with corona virus but flu and all other Viruses.

Please take care and keep safe.

  • I totally agree Graham. But we must also ask the travelling public to do there bit too and listen to the advice being issued and updated daily.

Also on a slightly separate note nothing annoys me more than when you get on a bus, train or tube and see cans rolling around the floor, crisps or chips left on seats or left all overt the floor.

Passengers need to take there rubbish with them and put in the nearest bin when they get off. If a person was infected with a virus it could be on these items too.

So please be considerate to fellow passengers.
