QE Woolwich and Lewisham Hospital restrict visits to one person. No children

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust have announced tightened restrictions on visitors to hospital patients. No children will be allowed and only one visitor is permitted.

The Trust stated this afternoon:

“To protect our patients from the potential risk of coronavirus, visiting at both of our hospitals is restricted to one person at a time.

To further reduce the risk of infection, no children will be allowed to visit patients.

Please note this applies to both University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation, and apologise for any inconvenience.”

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • Although these are sensible precautions under the current circumstances I think the restrictions should be extended to Urgent Care, A&E and Outpatient departments. Unless the patient is a child and needs to attend the Hospital for treatment.

  • Every six months for past 14 years I am given a blood test by QEH and then a consultant tells me things are much the same. I had the blood test two days ago and due to see the consultant on Friday 20th. It has always seemed to be an inefficient process but now it looks to be potentially unsafe.
