  • What, An Officer attacked in Kidbrooke Village? Oh, don’t you worry, it’s still very early in the game. Kidbrooke Village will become a horrible, no-go zone with time!

    • No, it won’t. What a silly thing to say

      • You are kidding yourself! I know for a fact gangs are already operating in Kidbrooke Village!
Right now, things are relatively calm, but as soon as the place starts filling up, it’ll be like the Wild West in there!

      • Unofrtunately it will become a sink estate at some point in the future.
If i remember correctly, the Ferrier estate was once promoted s the future of estates!
All the high rise, high density flats without much thought of real quality of life for families, is always going to lead to problems…..

  • Your right HK when the Ferrier Estate was first built people were very happy to move there as the properties were large and modern, As you rightly say the future of estates.

Sadly the Ferrier Estate went down hill very quickly and became a no go area.

The Royal Arsenal development in Woolwich as also had it fair share of problems.with people being robbed by youths on mopeds and anti social behaviour etc. As have other new housing developments around the Borough

HK also says that “All the high rise, high density flats without much thought of real quality of life for families, is always going to lead to problems…”

Again this is so true and we have seen it happen so many times before.

Unless these issues are tackled then these problems will only continue to get worse.

    • I agree with a lot said here, as a former inhabitant of the Ferrier Estate.

I’m interested to see what people see as solutions to this problem in High Density, high rise buildings.

      I propose that:

      1. % of most ethnic groups should be fairly similar. This will allow for an inclusive culture.

      2. Half of all flats should be sold to “wealthy” people as a residence. This will stop the flats turning into a symbol of poverty.

      3. Children’s areas, GP, chemist, corner shop and a manned 24hr reception 7 days a week should be present in areas of multiple high rise buildings.

      4. CCTV should be present on all floors and the lift. Any resident found guilty of public nuisance I.e. littering, excrement etc should be giving 2 strikes before being forced out and offered a place elsewhere.

      5. Extra enrichment classes (Educational, life-skills, childcare) should be offered to all those in high density buildings.

  • Agreed. What the Borough of Greenwich needs now is some housing developments which consist of 2 3 and 4 bedroomed hoiuses for families with gardens that children can safely play in. This will also give residents there own little space,
