Police presence on Eltham High Street after “teens plan to ransack stores”

There is a strong police presence on Eltham High Street tonight after claims that social media was being used to arrange meet-ups to raid stores.

A video clip went viral over the weekend showing a large number of people running into a JD Sports store and then ransacking and stealing from the shop. It was feared Eltham was today’s target.

Police have issued a dispersal order stating: “A dispersal authority has been granted under S.34 ASB Crime and Policing Act 2014. The authority is in place between 1650 Hrs 4/11/19 until 0000 Hrs 5/11/19 in order to reduce the likelihood of crime or disorder – area shown within orange circle on the attached map.”

  • Also happening at Charlton tonight. When kids were getting away with launching fireworks at people last week with police nearby it was opening the floodgates. Give an inch…

    Now look.

    • Indeed Jo.
The police should take a zero tolerance approach in situations like this.
I wonder how many of these vermin are locals or if they are from out of town and just hit an area and more on to the next?

I just wish if there are people who know who these trouble-makers are and contact the police!

  • These groups of youths are just thugs and out with the sole aim of causing trouble. They are demented Launching fireworks at people is very dangerous and can cause serious harm and life changing injuries to people.

They should be charged for endangering lives and the use of an (dangerous weapon) which a firework in the wrong hands becomes a dangerous weapon.

The police and courts need to get tough and take these kinds of incidents and anti social behaviour very seriously and send the culprits to a Youth Detention Centre or Prison dependent on their age.. This kind of behaviour cannot and will not be tolerated,

  • Agree with all. Police don’t mind stopping a searching for “weapons” but when implements are actually used and therefore actually breaking the law, but there a “too many” children; the police stay away. Not exactly sure why we pay our taxes for police protection equipment when they don’t put themselves in harm’s way to protect the public.
