Thomas Cook collapses: stores in Eltham, Bexleyheath and Bromley to close

Thomas Cook has collapsed into administration overnight stranding 150,000 holiday makers abroad and threatening thousands of jobs.

The company has branches in Eltham, Bexleyheath, Bromley and Bluewater.

Four months ago I wrote a post titled “Is “worthless” Thomas Cook the next name to disappear from the High Street?”  after the company announced huge losses. Sadly that’s now come to pass.

The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has said that the tour operator had “ceased trading with immediate effect”.

This means empty units in Bexleyheath shopping centre and other locations across SE London and beyond.

    Sunderland based Hays Travel has now bought out the business with a view to expansion. I hope the firm can make it work and save all those jobs.
