Firefighters on scene at Ocado and Morrisons Belvedere fire

Around four fire engines and a command unit are at the scene of an apparent fire at Ocado and Morrisons distribution depot in Belvedere.

Ocado suffered a devastating blaze at another plant in Andover earlier this year. After that blaze they agreed to lease an extra 30 per cent of space allocated to Morrisons until February 2021 at the depot in Belvedere.

UPDATE: An aerial ladder is now on scene. There are reports of cutting in an attempt to access parts of the buildings structure.

22 AUGUST UPDATE: The fire was extinguished around 10pm. It will disrupt deliveries for some days. The Fire Brigade state:

“The Brigade was called at 1909 and the fire was under control at 2212. Fire crews from Erith, Bexley and Plumstead fire stations attended the scene.”

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • Ocado erith is actually belvedere.

  • If you type in DA17 into Google maps, it should show you the Belvedere Borders. Ocado is clearly in Belvedere

    • And if you do the same thing you just mentioned to do you’d see 25% of the land/building is in Belvedere and 75% is within erith borders. The site is called CFC 4 Erith, The postcode begins with DA8 not DA17 so even the country recognises it as in Erith.
