Plan for new flats on Sidcup High Street

Plans have been submitted to build flats behind a retail unit on Sidcup High Street next door to a new cinema also on the drawing board.

The scheme would see the front of the building comprising Cancer Research charity shop and an off-license retained with demolition of the “existing rear extension and erection of a 4 storey rear extension for mixed use to provide office space on the ground floor and 8 residential dwellings comprising 5 x 1 bed and 3 x 2 bed”.

Occupants would have a new cinema directly next door on the former Blockbuster site.

I’ve previously covered cinema plans here.

You can view the planning documents for the flats here.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • So this development is in addition to the new cinema and library. At least the Cancer Research shop and Off Licence will also be retained. I believe the mixed used development of office space on the ground floor and flats above will work well.

Mixed retail/housing developments have been a great success and seem both popular for businessess and residents. Tesco’s in Welling and Lidl on Lee High Road are two that spring to mind.

    • No i dont agree. Building flats on a high street on a busy road which would look odd .
