Man stabbed in Woolwich last night

There are reports that a 32 year old man was stabbed multiple times in Woolwich last night around 11:30pm.

The incident occurred on Lord Warwick Street near Woolwich Dockyard station. Two men are believed to be involved. The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Woolwich saw a number of high profile crimes last month including a fatal arson attack, shooting and stabbings.

Crime figures presented at a Greenwich Council meeting subsequently showed a large increase in some crimes in the area, with weapon enabled crime up 56% last year in Woolwich Riverside Ward and 92% in Woolwich Common.

Police numbers have fallen to their lowest number per head since at least the early 1980s due in large party to cuts from the Home Office.

Yet last week, Theresa May, who pushed through cuts as Home Secretary, claimed there was no correlation between reduced police and rising crime.

Police are aksing for any witnesses to call them on 101 and quote CAD9111/5OCT
