48 new homes coming to Woolwich Dockyard

sunbury street flats

ASRA housing association have submitted plans to build 48 flats in Woolwich on an island site at Sunbury Street, opposite the former Woolwich fire station which closed last year. The site is a short walk to Woolwich Dockyard station.

The site is currently home to some low rise post-war buildings which was recently a care home.

ASRA have a number of projects ongoing across Woolwich. They are part of the 1600 home ‘One Woolwich’ redevelopment of Connaught estate (now being demolished), Morris Walk estate,  currently seeing residents moved out, and Maryon Grove, which is the later stage of the program.

I’ve added the project to the map showing developments across Greenwich borough:

Aside from headline grabbing developments in Woolwich are a number of schemes around this size, such as Cambridge House and 38 Artillery Place. Details of those are here.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • I wonder how many of these housing developments will be social?? Answer none, because we are being socially cleansed . Poor people who have lived here all their lives, are being moved to he back of beyond . The air in woolwich will not be fit to breath, full of dust , thank you Greenwich council , sold out to the developers
