More Plumstead murals appear

Murals have been painted close to Plumstead station on a pedestrian area leading to the Ridgeway elevated path and west Thamesmead.

Greenwich Council commissioned the work on a spiral ramp leading to the station. They deserve praise for this scheme. It’s cheap, it’s easy and it lifts up the area. Much more please.

Links between Plumstead station and west Thamesmead are to be improved as thousands of homes are built nearby. Firstly, 66 homes at the Reach development has been constructed near the Princess Alice pub.

Future sites are far larger. 1,500 homes are planned by Peabody and Berkeley Homes for a site near Plumstead bus garage.

Over 1,000 more could be built to the north west beside the Thames and Royal Arsenal canal (far left on map below)

It’s the second mural to appear in recent weeks with Network Rail funding another opposite the station.

The next big project is upgrading public realm around the station. The area isn’t a good introduction to the town and is cluttered with excessive street furniture.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
