Flats plan for Greenwich sorting office

Plans are in the redevelop the former sorting office in Greenwich into nine flats. The existing building frontage is to be retained with a zine-clad extension above and behind.

The building is located to the rear of the Arches leisure centre when viewed from Trafalgar Road. The Arches is still empty a couple of years after facilities moved to the Greenwich Centre.

The zinc cladding looks like it was changed from a lighter grey to near-black which is welcome. Lots of new developments and conversions include grey zinc cladding. It usually looks a bit dreary; like a tin shack’s been stuck on top. Black appears a bit less “cheap”. Though they do say they may change the colour and material.

The planning application reference is 17/1377/F

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
